This Privacy Policy explains how CompanionAI ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the CompanionAI mobile app and the website at companion-ai.ie. By using CompanionAI, you agree to this policy.

Who this is for

CompanionAI is intended for adults (18+). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in, we create an account identified by a Firebase Authentication user ID. Depending on your sign-in method this may include your email address.

Conversations and memories

Messages you send to your companion, and the "memories" the app derives from them (such as your name or preferences you share), are stored so your companion can maintain continuity across conversations.

Usage and device data

We collect basic usage analytics (for example, which screens are opened and message activity) and standard technical data such as app version and device type, to operate and improve the service.

Purchases

Purchases (persona unlocks and Pro) are processed by Google Play. We receive confirmation of your purchase to unlock content; we do not receive or store your payment card details.

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist on our website, we store the email address you provide so we can contact you about CompanionAI.

How we use your information

• To provide and personalize your conversations.
• To remember context you choose to share with your companion.
• To process purchases and grant access to paid content.
• To measure and improve performance and reliability.
• To show ads to users on the free tier.
• To respond to support requests and waitlist sign-ups.

Third-party services

We rely on trusted third parties to run CompanionAI. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase (authentication, database, cloud functions, analytics, messaging).
• OpenAI— message content is sent to OpenAI's API to generate your companion's replies.
• Google AdMob — advertising on the free tier.
• Google Play Billing — purchase processing.

Data retention

We keep your account, conversations, and memories while your account is active. You can delete your data by deleting your account in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by requesting deletion on our Delete Account page, after which we remove it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the EU/Irish GDPR), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you may object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

Children

CompanionAI is for users 18 and older. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
